CRE Financial Analyst
Credit Underwriting, Capital Markets and/or Asset Management
Position Overview
A Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Underwriting Analyst will evaluate the financial viability and risk of CRE loans or investments by performing an in-depth analysis. The analysis will include the review of property financials, market trends, borrower creditworthiness, and third-party reports (i.e. appraisals, environmental etc.) to build financial models, assess risk, and author credit memos for investment committees, ensuring deals meet lender/investor guidelines before approval. Key tasks include cash flow modeling, due diligence, market research, and credit analysis. The ideal candidate has exceptional quantitative analysis, verbal and written communication skills, is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis: Analyze property operating statements, rent rolls, lease abstracts, tax returns, financial statements, and build out cash flow models to project performance.

General Credit Review and Analysis: Evaluate borrower and sponsor financial strength, net worth, and capacity to support debt through guarantor analysis.

Market Research: Investigate market fundamentals, including vacancy rates, rent trends, new supply, and competitive positioning.

Credit Memo Preparation: Author comprehensive credit memorandums and presentations for Credit Committees and summarizing findings.

Cross-Functional Support: Work with the origination team to support deal-level analysis, prepare preliminary underwriting packages, and assist with borrower/ broker requests. Collaborate with the asset management and capital market teams on tasks throughout the full life of loans including preparing refinance analysis of closed deals, loan production information management, and supporting closing documentation needs.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required.

Strong financial modeling, analytical, and quantitative skills with high attention to detail.

Understanding of CRE fundamentals (property types, valuation, market dynamics).

Excellent communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
